Freaking out before school...

Published

I have the chance to attend an LVN/LPN program not far from me, which has been a dream of mine for a long time. The problem is that I get super anxious and almost talk myself out of it! I worry about money (they offer financial aid), that I'll fail out - anything and everything. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for someone who's really just freaking out?

First off, CONGRATULATIONS!

Second off....DO IT. I think nursing is a calling and if you have this opportunity- take advantage! I`m an LPN now and loved school. It's the best stress you will ever have (if that makes any sense LOL.) Have some confidence in yourself! I`m not the best student when it comes to tests and I didn't have confidence in myself during school, but I gained it throughout that year and it changes your life. I have anxiety and have freaked out in the bathroom before taking some of the tests during school, but, it happens to the best of us! Nursing school is no joke but is totally possible to get through if it's your passion and if you go in knowing it'll be a challenge. Oh, and I understand the money issue. That's often the biggest challenge for some students; however, I think if you truly want to go to school, then you will make it happen. Take advantage of the financial aid, save, take out a loan, etc. It's do-able and I highly encourage you not to let money be the reason you don`t follow this dream of yours. Good luck and have fun! Dooo itttt.

Your worries sound like my worries 6 years ago. But I'm so glad I went for it. I had zero self confidence. And let's talk anxiety. My son died the month before I started. I had no job. I get anxiety. But I did it, and I did well. I graduated very confident and on the dean's list. Just go for it.
