Fort Wayne Spring 09 ASN Applicants

Published

I was just wondering if there are any applicants for the spring 09 semester? I will turn in my application on Monday and I'm freaking out!

I have a total score of 202.

I thought stressing over all the pre req's was more than I could take, but I am officially going bonkers now.

I considered re-taking my TEAS to raise my score, but I talked with the ASN chair, and she said they will take the highest of the two, but if I fail any portion the second time, they won't take either score. I don't want to risk it, so I am gritting my teeth and applying with 202.:banghead:

Anyone out there with the same concerns or with any words of wisdom?

Thanks!

Maybe I should move this to the Ivy Tech thread?

I think you will be just fine. Someone already in the program told my friend and I that scores are usually lower in the Spring session and that it is easier to get in. I got a 203 and got in this fall, and heard that the cut off was like 200 or so, but that is all hear say. I also heard that this fall class had some of the highest scores they had seen in awhile. You just never know.

I know telling you not to be nervous is crazy, because I was the same way, but hopefully this will ease your mind to some degree.

Good Luck,

Deb:D

Thanks Deb, that really does help to know even if it is hearsay. Most everything I've "heard" through the grapevine has been true so far.

Do you mind telling me how long it took for you to get your acceptance letter?

Are you all finished with your co req's?

Thanks a million!

You have a very good chance of getting in this time. However to let you know the cutoff for ASN was 198 and the LPN was 200, YES 200. I think that there is going to be a mad rush of people just under the cutoff score re-taking their TEAS tests so that they can get in next time around. I think that you misunderstood the conversation regarding the taking of TEAS tests and receiving a lower than acceptable score for a certain section will only result in that tests score not being able to be used for entrance scoring, not causing all your tests to be invalid. Unless this is some new policy that has not been put into writing yet, you can not loose taking your TEAS test again, as your highest score will be used whether it is your first test or your last test score or the one in between. Also if one tst has a section that does not meet the requirements, only that test is ejeted and your other tests still count. Also most people do at least a few points higher-if not more- the second time around, as the test is very, very similar the second time around. I would suggest having your question's answer re-affirmed regarding taking the test again and then I would submit your application and take the test again, assuming you can before the cutoff time for application. They will look up your TEAS tests online and apply the highest score prior to the cutoff when calculating you entrance score.

I am in the Fall 08 class and the above info is from the source.

I will stop in the health sciences dept. tomorrow and ask again. I will be there anyway for Mirobiology. Tuesday is the last day before the deadline that I can retake the TEAS.

Good luck starting classes tomorrow! Let us know how it's going for you.:yeah:

Oh, one more thing, can you tell me how long it took for you to get your acceptance letter?

Big T, you were right! I am taking the TEAS again tomorrow. I hope I raise my score by at least a couple of points.

I hope you had a great first day.

Let me know how it's going for you.

Math 118 scared the bejesus out of me today:uhoh21:

Imagine,

I got my letter a few days after it was sent. There is a schedule of when the letters will be sent out depending on when you apply. I looked up for the Spring semester and it said that the letters will be sent out on September 30th.

I am glad that you are re-taking the TEAS. Just remember that you got a great score already and if you do better the second time it will just help you that much more. Try to remember any particular areas that you did not do well and research those more. For myself, my 2nd TEAS was very similar to my first one, just the questions were in a different order. I have had several other students say the same thing. But be careful, because I also saw questions on the same graphs and charts, but the questions were different so just because an answer looks familiar- make sure the question is the same as well before selecting it.

My first day went well. It was pretty easy but I am sure the pace will pick up dramatically in the coming weeks. I seem to have nice teachers so far, so I am feeling relieved in that way.

Wish you the best,

T

Big T,

I took the TEAS again today. My last score was a 78.8 (79). Can you believe that this time I got a 79.4 (79)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't budge that score even one point. :wtosts:Everything I studied for I got a better score on. It was everything else that tripped me up this time!

At least now I know I've done all I can. I'll let the chips fall where they may, and say a few prayers. If I don't get in, I will go to Saint Francis next semester.

I'm curious how the semester goes for you, but I know you will be very busy. If you can give an update every now and then I look forward to it!

Best of luck to you!:mnnnrsngrk:
