There isn't a thread yet for the students applying to the fall 2016 lpn program. I was just curious about everyone's experience so far. I take my teas test on November 17th and I currently have 31 points from related courses. Has anyone already taken their teas test? How many points do you have? Im shooting for at least a 70 on the teas but I heard it's very difficult so I'm stressing a lot. Looking forward to hearing from you guys! good luck.
Guys, I know all about this program because I failed out of it not too long ago. I am definitely here to tell you all about the do's and don'ts to be successful in this program! I wish someone would have prepared and warned me before I entered the program. Come with the questions!!!????!!!
School starts in August. It starts very fast and doesn't slow down. Start studying NOW and throughout the summer. You will be tested on measurements such as conversion of liters, milliliters, teaspoons, tablespoons, etc the first or second week...The nursing instructors will not teach you this, they heavily rely on your knowledge that you learned from those required prerequisites. DO not assume that because it's a Practical Nursing program that it is easy. Trust me the program is super intense and you'll learn everything that an RN has learned in school the only difference will be the instructors will preface the task and or concept with an "RN must supervise an LPN when completing this particular task, etc.... You must always study, that's not even negotiable; Nursing concepts cannot be guessed upon. DO ALWAYS be on time, there is never an excuse good enough to justify being tardy- the nursing instructors will close and lock the door and you will be counted absent even if you're 1/2 a minute late, this includes lecture, lab and clinical DO be early. This program in particular is concept based; therefore, you will be expected to "self-teach" a lot of things to yourself, you will have to read chapters upon chapters of material in several different books. Always study and know your medications before Clinical because you will be quizzed by your clinical instructor before you administer any medication to any patient. It's soooo much to prepare for. Ask me more questions!
