HELP!!

I forgot to call in and see if it was by day to drug screen yesterday (Saturday). I usually call first thing in the morning but I had worked midnights all week and slept until 2 pm, through my alarm reminding me to call.

I called the assistance program (at 3am!!) and there was a cell phone number on the message to call if urgent, to me I thought it was urgent so I called, and ended up in a crying mess. He didn't think it was so urgent at 3am.

Has anyone ever forgot to call? Im freaking out! I left a message for my case manager to call me ASAP on Monday, I hope nothing happens. I know that I would pass with flying colors I just hope they understand.

Freaking out

Grace,

Can you test before noon today? I would definitely make sure that I had it done this morning and then make sure you follow up with your case manager first thing tomorrow.I have had to delay a test because I was at work and couldn't leave. I just had to make sure that I got it done by noon the following day per ISNAP.

Best Wishes.

I have forgotten 4 or 5 times since being put on randoms in August of 2008. Every time, I have immediately called my Board of Nursing Compliance Coordinator and told her what happened (they all occurred on the weekend). I was told to submit a written statement, explaining what happened, why, and how I was going to prevent it in the future. The compliance coordinator for the board stated they look for patterns, not isolated incidents. Also, in our state, testing is not done on the weekend (although you still have to call in). So missing a call in on the weekend probably isn't as severe as it is during the week because the chances of getting chosen are zero. Of course, that doesn't give me the open door to sit around and not check in! Because we can still suffer repercussions for not checking in (and do). I know some of my colleagues who have been brought before the DAC for a "check up" to ensure they are still working the program of recovery because they have been "screwing up" when it comes to some of the requirements of our contract (not attending the mandatory 2 meetings a week, missing too many call-in's, etc.). I prefer to stay on the good side of the board. = )

I have missed occasional call ins in the past. Usually when my schedule was disrupted. None of them were on a day I had to test (you can find out by going to Firstlab Website under "reports' in your account...if you go through firstlab. Here, they take different things into account to determine if you will get a "warning", or extra time added to your contract, or worse. There is no point in us taking a voluntary test "just in case" either. Since it doesn't count. If we miss calling on a day that we are chosen to test, it is an automatic "positive" test. We are then subject to consequences that anyone who relapsed would be subject to. Someone I knew got there 15 minutes before time limit to give urine. Then she couldn't pee no matter how hard she tried. She went back and did it the next day. But it didn't count. It was called a positive test and she had to cease practice until she had a clean test (and by that they mean clean RANDOM test. Which could happen the next day or next 100 days. Voluntary ones wont count)
