For students who don't know for either RPN or RN

Published

Hi,

This is for those who are still wondering about either doing the RPN or the RN program. Here is my advice, if you are graduating from high school, I would look if I have those:

RPN: either 4U or 4C courses (maths, bio, chem, french-english or so)

doesn't ask for a specifique mark, but at least a 70% would be fine (depends on the college)

RN: 6U (french-english, maths, bio, chem, physic-can be useful or so)

lots of school ask for a 80% and over average, smaller school could ask 75%

The characteristic looking for the field are the same in both program.

Don't do the mistake has some students who want to get in only 2 schools for RN or RPN, try applying into 4-5 schools. Try to think where you see yourself going :)

Or for those applying into the RN program: try applying into a uni-college partner program. It could be easier to get in.

If you have everything for the RN program but don't get in no matter what, try getting accept it into the RPN program. After a year of work (with marks depending of the school), you can do the bridge over the BScN program.

Good luck :)

Opps forgot to add for other candidate (college, uni, etc.), I would see if I have all high school course requirement or equivalent it. If not, get them. For the marks that you need to get in, contact your school of your choice (they would said a average, but not the year average need it). For uni student: try completing half a degree or a whole degree and do the after degree or the 24 months fast track program (make sure to get your requirement).
