I'm trying to find some information on a new best practice procedure called the "fill and pull".
It's a procedure used when removing a foley. You irrigate the bladder then pull out the catheter. it is suppose to help reduce UTI's. I'm writing a paper for school and would like a video, picture, pamphlet. I can't find anything onlie. Is it called something else?
I think they use this method at Mayo and it will be starting soon at Scottsdale Healthcare.
Thank you in advance for any guidance,
Laura

I did a search because I hadn't heard of this, and there are articles about it...from the ones I skimmed it appeared they use the technique as sort of an encouragement for first void rather than waiting for the patient to fill up and void "on their own" so-to-speak...which I would assume results in decreased UTIs because there is more assurance of voiding? Try using "back fill versus auto fill for foley removal" as your search.
