I was taught it was ok to use tap water for irrigating fc if other solutions (nacl or sterile h2o) is unavailable. Is this true?

I was taught it was ok to use tap water for irrigating fc if other solutions (nacl or sterile h2o) is unavailable. Is this true?

Sterile system=sterile solution (sterile NS is what I always used).

Have never heard that tap water is acceptable. Someone needs to pay better attention to having proper supplies on hand.
