Hi

I am a FNP looking to expand into advanced practice mental health nursing (mental health has been an interest of mine since nursing school). I am looking for an on-line Post-Masters certificate program or a MSN to DNP program that will allow me to sit for the PMHMP boards and do my clinicals in my area. Any advice on finding a program?

online program PMHNP?

I've applied online to Rochester and Stony Brook and was accepted. The cost was not a factor, since I had approved for senator Patricia Mcgee scholarship for nurse educators. My major concern with an online program was what type of teaching/learning methods are utilized - namely, are there any interactive, engaging methods being used - i.e, pre-recorded lectures, power points with voice, MP3 files, discussion boards, collaborative group assignments, webnairs, virtual simulations, or interactive video modules?

As far as for now, I found that my choice was correct and my PMHNP program in Molloy was good decision.

I find the course work to be engaging, comprehensive, and useful, it was not it a bunch of "busy" work. The textbooks were truly relevant and useful, some expensive, but reasonable. All my professors were PhDs or Masters prepared. I would that say the course work truly prepares me for my role as PMHNP, however, I will have to constantly seek additional sources to fill in the gaps.

Lastly, I think I will feel prepared to sit for the national exam.

Personaly, I know several PMHNP that finished online programs, but still can not find a job in this field -PMHNP, some can not pass the national exam and some just feel "unprepared".
