Flunked Out

I just flunked out :uhoh3: of my accelerated BSN program. Does anyone know how soon you can get into or apply to a new school here in Florida

Sorry to hear that. I think you can apply to a new program as soon as you'd like. Have you thought about any of the ASN programs. They might be a little better pace-wise that the Acc BSNs. Or just a regular BSN (you would probably have to go to a private school as the the State of FL is trying to enforce a one bachelors restriction).

What does a 1 bachelor's restriction mean? I'm going for my ABSN now in FL, but I only moved here a year and a half ago. How can they do that?

This applies to state schools only. Acc programs are a different beast entirely. It is because there are so many kids in the system and our tuition is relatively low, mainly relying on taxpayer dollars to subsidize the education. There are so many people applying that HS grads get top priority and many of them still do not get in. There just aren't enough resources to fund second degrees etc (outside of special programs).

Huh. When I applied to USF, it was as a pre-nursing major and a "second-degree seeking student," to finish up my prereqs and I got in no problem. I did have very good grades though. It never crossed my mind to worry - I've never heard of something like that before.

You said you were in an Accel BSN right. Those are only for second degree students. I am talking about getting into a traditional program with a previous degree. I know from experience dealing with UF before it had its second degree program. Even though I had 4.0 they would not accept me because of this rule. So I eventually ended up in an Accel program like you.

Hey anc33! I'm going through UF's ABSN right now too--Jacksonville campus!

If you dont mind my asking why did you flunk out? Im just wondering because so I know what to watch out for.
