I work at a small indian health hospital and have heard a rumor that all will be required to receive a flu shot this year. That is great bu the issue that i have is that native staff will get theirs free of charge while on the clock as employees but non-natives will be required to pay for theirs out of pocket or recieve from an outside source and provide documentation. Does this sound discriminatory to anyone else? please give some feedback. while this new rule does not apply to me it does apply to my co-workers and we find this horribly wrong!

I work at an indian health also but we got ours free (we either got it our shift or we could come in at our free time to get it) the whole hospital did. One thing i have found out about the indian health/reservation is their laws are different from the whole country and its accept it or leave it. Although you can advocate with your facility and i do believe there would be changes. (is your facility 638 or govt.)
The facility is Tribal/ihs. Since i do not know what 683 is i would venture to say that we are not that. i guess it just seems alittle unfair to let certain employees get the shots for free and then tell others that they have to pay. i agree that indian health is a whole other monster.
638 means are they tribal. I work at a tribal facility also. Well i acn only say its not fair but you can advocate for yourselves. As i said the laws are different and i am still getting used to them
