I've heard between $17-$22 per hour in south Florida if you work at a nursing home or at an agency, and $13 + if your work in a hospital.

Tampabay area hospital LPN's make about $15 to start. Long term care 17-21. Agency about 20-23. Hope this helps.

Absolutely amazing that South FL is paying so low too.

I just took an incredibly easy job at $12.00/hr. in north central FL recently. My lowest pay since coming to FL in 2000. I've worked around the Gainesville, Lake City, Ocala areas from 12.14 (elementary nurse) to 21.50 (agency staffing SNF)

Specializes in cardiac, ortho, med-surg.

hey....out of curiosity, i see more threads about low pay...is there anywhere that the nurses feel like they are getting what they're worth? i am getting the same pay here in tn that i was getting in swfl. the cost of living is more bearable, but to be away from manasota beach is killing me! where is the happy medium?:onbch:

Honestly unless you are a professional ball player, a musician, a physician/surgeon, lawyer, high-government employee the cost of living (which is HUGE) versus pay is no where NEAR equal, for most types of jobs. The closer to the beach the worse it gets. Florida is near the low end of the totem pole for paying medical staff, Nurses to environmental staff. You nearly NEED 2 incomes here to keep your chin above the financial waves here.....

We are moving soon after I graduate nursing school..... Want to find a place where the scales are more balanced.

North Florida (Pensacola to Tallahassee). Hospital: $11-$15, LTC: $13-$16. Agency: $22-25.
