i haven't been around in a while....i have a question that you all may be able to help me with

i know that the salary range is from 32000 to 34000 per year for general practice, but do you think a person would be paid for for having a degree in another area....like computer technology?

Hasn't helped my pay scale. They want me as a nurse, not as an IT consultant, webmaster or hardware engineer. Oh well, fact is, even after finishing all that could take me away from nursing, I found I should have gone for the AD in nursing because turns out that's where I want to be. Even for less money. Go figure! I have a very good friend who did the same thing, less IT degrees/certs but similar.

Anyway, unless you get lucky and get a job in the IT department, you will only be paid as the nurse you are. If you go to IT, you will be paid as the IT staff member you are. They just don't want both on the unit or in the office.

You never know, you could get lucky, but I wouldn't expect it. :o)

The reason I asked, there is a program in FL that promotes the benefit of MIS people earing a nursing degree: LPN, RN etc. I've heard salary ranges from 80,000 to 100,000 to have healthcare professionals manage healthcare systems...so I was just curious.

But that the going rate for IT pros. If you are lucky enough to get a job. Problem with IT is there are thousands of newbies every year and only a handful of jobs. That's why so many are working a McDonalds. :bluecry1:
