Look at this program carefully. Ever get those credit card offers in the mail that seem to be directed towards nurses? Its amazing how those arrive after graduation from nursing school but generally have the same rates as for anyone else.
The housing market in Florida went thru a massive acceleration after the recent hurricaines. The prices of homes jumped dramatically. Now the prices are ultra-inflated, taxes have risen, and homeowners insurance (hurricaine related) have tripled. Many are forced to try to sell their homes or lose them to foreclosure.
Not many qualified buyers due to the banks tightening up on qualifying due to the flood of foreclosures in Florida.
The "Program for Nurses" is usually a thinly veiled sales come on attempt. Do your research ahead of time.

What critterpuss wrote is true. These loans for nurses are typically no-point loans, which allow nurses to circumvent some of the requirements usually required by banks for conventional mortgages. Its important to note that the loan program for nurses is not the same as the type of high-risk, bad credit, interest-only ARMs that a lot of home buyers now find themselves stuck with. BUT, buying real estate anywhere in Florida now is a tricky thing because the property values are coming down in many areas, and you may end up paying a lot more for a house now than it will be worth in a few months time.

There are NO incentives for Nurses, just lenders willing to work with you because Nurses are licensed individuals required to stay out of trouble and keep their reps blemish free.
I won a home. It was paid off in 1988. This year the weather service predicts a really busy storm season with hurricanes likely to hit the US and we all interpret it as here. Some of us accept this and others would prefer to leave. I have a sick Mom who wants to stay put. When she passes later on, this house will be up for sale and I will be permanently in N. Cali where most of my family is. We have all had it with rain, wind and electricity out and stifling heat.

i don't know what the situation is now, but a few years ago there used to be a mortgage incentive program in florida for nurses. it was originally offered through the fannie mae mycommunities program, and the processing was done through wachovia bank in a program called healthcare worker plus (or something like that). call fannie mae at 1-800-732-6643 to find out if they are still offering the program.[color=#4b4b4b]

I live in Hernando county, FL. Recently on of our PTs bought a beautiful home with the help of a local program for 'service' oriented workers, he said he could not have purchased his home w/o the program. Check with builders in the area you are interested in, they should have info. on avail. programs. As for home prices, they've died here, I can't get out my house. State of FL 'working' on taxes & insurance issues, yeh/right..... I'm leaving....sooon! It's a buyer's market in my area. I hate FL, can't wait to leave.
