FIU nursing program for Spring 2012? Please Help!

I got into FIU however, i keep hearing horror stories about how hard it is to get in to the nursing program itself! How are they with the HESI exam, i understand some parts of the hesi are required to pass while others not so much. Can you please update me with any information at all?? I feel somewhat lost, For any one in the nursing program from this year or anyone who got accepted for the next nursing program? How does this work? Getting into the program its so complicated yet out of state i did not have a problem i got in right away for my BSN at other schools, but would like to stay here in forida but just to be given the chance to get in seems humanly impossible. Also, how many times are you allowed to retake the HESI without it affecting you. Is there a waiting list for FIU nursing, the consoler said to me that they only accept 100 students PER semester. My gap is 3.47 right now with my AA. What do i need to do to get in to the nursing program? About the HESI, i am really worried and scared of it, how can i study for it, the book i got for the test has so many typos is embarrassing it was even published really. How did you study for the HESI, and what sections are required for the program. Thanks to everyone and anyone in advance any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    I am currently taking those two pre-requisites at FIU right now and I been talking to the adviser lately...... he said the most points they count towards is based on your cumulative and science GPA, then the HESI. Now they require us to have some community service or job experience as a new requirement towards the admission. Also the essay is been replaced to a video essay....Check their website they have uploaded the new application on their web page. And as far as HESI he told me that if we pass the Math and Reading with 80% and above we will be fine...we don't need to take the other sections of HESI

    Hi guys!!!! FIU is a hot topic around here, and I think it is a great university to go in Miami. I am applying for Fall 2012. The advisor told me that the lowest GPA they took last year were 3.60 and there is only 100 spots there. The HESI is not the big deal. They will just look for the passing scores of Reading and Math, which have to be higher than 80%; anyway you will have to take the whole test: anatomy, chemistry, vocabulary... all of it. In their web page you will see everything for the test. The book is "Admission Assessment, Exam Review" 2nd edition, from Mosby (blue and yellow). It is around $40, and the test is $50. You have two opportunities, and you have to pay each time the 50 bucks. Be sure you leave room to re-make it because it needs 45 days between one and another. The viedo is the new thing this year, lets see how it goes. I hope this will help for the ones that look for more information, anyway the best way to get informed is going to their web page and having and appointment with an advisor. Good Luck!!!!
