So i was recently looking for the job i wanted for LVN. And i finally got a call for interview but unfortunately, this wasn't my first choice to work at. I'm starting my orientation in a Neuro Psych unit next week and very anxious and nervous about it. This is actually gonna be my first job as an LVN as a new grad. I didn't expect to work in this kind of Facility but this was the first job offer i got. And i feel like i have no choice but to accept it. I dont have any experience so i am very anxious and nervous about it. I dont know what to expect in Neuro Psych. I mean i have a 'lil bit of knowledge from my clinical rotation in Psych but i am scared to start and be working alone esp in Psych unit. Do you guys have any advise what to expect and any tips working in Psych dept?

Did you get a job description? That should detail your duties. Generally, on our unit, we pass meds, do a few treatments, launder patients' clothes, do various janitorial tasks, accompany patients to group therapy sessions, write nursing summaries, etc. Be prepared for verbal and physical abuse from the patients and be prepared to TOLERATE AND ACCEPT it!

I didnt ask. But i figured passing meds and few treatments and charting. I just hope that they are not really that bad u know. Im really scared to work in a mental facility but what the heck might as well try it. Its really hard to find a job even if u're grad. Hey, seems like everybody is talking about the State going to the facility. What does that mean? and what do they do? Do they ask the new hired person a lot of stuff? Its really nerve racking just by thinking about it.
