First job in hospital/ need help

Published

I just applied to a local hospital in bossier city, la for an er tech position. I am a semester away from starting clinicals and wanted to get in a hospital for the first time. Does anyone know what they may pay for this position? I am trying to weigh the paycut versus the experience. Any advice would really help. Thanks

I'm not sure I can really say what the pay will be like- I worked as an ER tech in a hospital in New Orleans and the pay was $10.50. I also got a night differential of something like .75 cents. I'm assuming that if you take this tech position, you will be quitting another job and possibly looking at a pay cut because of it. I can definitely tell you that all the experience you get in the ER as a tech will definitely out weigh the pay cut in the long run. Being able to work in a hospital on a routine basis does wonders for your comfort level. I am so much more comfortable in a hospital setting from just the three months that I spent working in the ER. I had even already experienced two semesters of clinicals at that point. Hope this helps you out a little. Good luck!
