FIRST DAY

Published

Hey everyone! I'm currently going to college towards being an RN and I go to school Monday-Thursday however I am also enrolled in a weekend CNA program and tomorrow is the first day for that. What should I expect? Does anyone have any stories or tips for class and studying? Thank you!

We were all so nervous in the CNA program then in hindsight after we all passed we wondered why we panicked so much. I don't know about you but I had to practice the most with people skills. I'll never forget my instructor this one day...I was with a woman with Alzheimer's who was getting angry at me. She would sing at random but when she was upset she'd sing in an angry tone. Well my instructor came in while I was extremely serious and trying to do my tasks, she was angrily singing and resisting, the instructor took an approach I wouldn't have thought of and he used humor. He began singing in a silly, happy way, smiling at her and tilting his head back and forth. She relaxed which enabled me to do my duties. So I think expect to learn good communication with your patients! The rest is not very hard. Good luck.
