How many fingerprint cards should I send to apply for CA BON? It states in the application form that only 1 fingerprint card is needed but a friend of mine told me that I need 2 fingerprint cards but I only have to pay for one.

They will send you two forms when you apply for them. The one fee covers both. One is processed through the California Department of Justice(?) and the other through the FBI.

If you haven't already paid for your CA application, don't go that route. They will only issue you a license when you have a SSN#, and if you decide not to work in California, you will really be in a pickle until you can endorse. It will hold you up with everything.

I want to work in California so is it ok if I apply there? I had my fingerprints taken already and I already sent my request of my transcripts to my school. I passed the licensure exam here in the Philippines this June but I can only get my certificate of registration this August after my oath taking. Do I have to wait for it or can I write a letter to the CABON regarding this?

Even if your goal is to work in California, as a foregn trained nurse it is not recommended for initial licnesure. You will not be issued a hard lciense until you actually have a Social Security Number, even if you pass NCLEX. You will only receive a letter stating that you meet all requirements.

If you some reason during the waiting game time you decide to go to grad school in another state or meet someone and decide to move there, you will have problem with trying to endorse your license..........you won't be able to as you technically do not have one.

It is your choice, but I work regularly with nurses from overseas and they are all going the route of NY. Then they are free to do as they please.......

You can easily endorse to California once you have a license in another state, actually get it the same day from the BON in Sacremento.
