Fingerprint card for RN endorsement

Published

Hello fellow RNs!

Could someone enlighten me on how to proceed on the fingerprint cards required for RN endorsement? I live out of state (LA) . Where can I get the NJ and FBI fingerprint cards they require? Are these cards required before I send my application packet? I tried calling NJ BON to inquire but it's all answering machine all day. I am so stuck :( Please help.

To get the cards, fill in the online form here:

http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/nursing/inforequest.htm

They will send them to you via mail. Take them to your local police station and have them fingerprint you (at my station, it had to be done with real ink rather than electronically - make sure they don't do them electronically for you unless you've made sure that they will print out on the cards correctly!)

I returned the cards in a big envelope with the rest of my application. Good luck, this process took a long time for me and was a big headache! The phone menus they have are awful and you might have to go through many menus to find what you want. If you keep getting answering machines, you can try doing what I did - go into menus that don't apply to you, hang up every time you hit an answering machine, and then call again and try a different menu. Eventually, you will get a real person that can transfer you to (or better yet, give you the direct number for) the person handling your file. The woman who does the endorsements is very nice but getting to her is tricky!

I hope this helped :)

Thanks nanagose... I did not try this part yet since I requested the fingerprint cards from a different website. Later I found out they don't accommodate RNs licenses. I waited for 3wks for nothing. Thanks for the weblink. Hopefully I would be lucky to get my license soon. I heard in 4-6wks processing once they receive the application.

Hi Nanagose

I see that you have a lot of information about this procedure. Would you please tell me if I am a foreign graduate and have NY RN license do I have to take NCLEX-RN again to transfer my license to NJ State. Thank you

Did Mrs. King send you the packet by mail? I'm from CA trying to get endorsed for LA, and the only things I can come by is the application and the criminal background. I can't find the where to get the Finger print cards, verification of Licensure form, nursing program data form, or the release form. I sent an e-mail to Mrs. King about my interest, then she requested my mailing address, will she send me everything?
