Hello,
I am a BSN nursing student that is set to graduate in mid May. I will plan on taking NCLEX sometime in June. I just found out that I am about 5wks pregnant, probably due in late October. I am wondering whether it would make more sense for me to stay at my current job as a receptionist until after the baby arrives or try to put in applications for new grad nursing positions. Obviously this is bad timing, and I am at a disadvantage compared to other new grads. I also am aware that even if I did get hired, I wouldn’t qualify for FMLA. I would plan to take 3 weeks off following the birth. I am wondering whether units ever hire new grad nurses that are pregnant? If I should disclose that I am pregnant during interviews? Also, whether there are any types of units that may be more willing to hire someone who is pregnant? If I were to wait to apply until after the baby arrives, would I still qualify for new grad nursing residency fellowship programs? I appreciate any info and advice.
Thank you

There are tons of stories on here of nurses that found jobs while pregnant, but if you can wait...do. Mainly because you need more than three weeks off with your baby.
Yes, you will still qualify for new grad nursing fellowship programs.
