Im just so excited to be finished with Peds and ready to start my last semester of my senior year that I had to make a post about it lol. Even though I love children and the clinical for peds was really easy...the class itself was difficult. We had to pretty much read the book for everything because my teachers notes were not very helpful and she would give us sooo much material that we were responsible for. I ended up with a B+ so I cant complain..but there were days when after studying for 10 hours on a saturday that I got stressed, overwhelmed & exhausted with the class. Maybe it was just my professor..did anyone else find peds to be challenging?

I dont find peds to be challenging however I do find OB to be pretty tough. Ive gotten straight A's in nursing school so far, and Im pretty sure I may be getting a B in OB. It also probably has a lot to do with my lack of interest in the subject. Only 17 more days left of the semester, then on to psych and community health!
I have to say, I thought peds and ob would be my favorite semester. I was sooo wrong! I like peds, and I want to be NICU nurse but I was only in the NICU for one rotation. I dont like peds med/surg although Peds hem/onc was pretty interesting.
Okay that was a major tangent.. but the point is I feel the same way in regards to OB.. the teachers notes were horrible, had to read the book alot... and I mean 100's of pages! Cant wait for it to be over..

I have earned all As so far, but I think Peds is going to be my first B! I'm fine with a B, but since I like kids, too, and enjoy the material we've studied along with clinicals, I thought it would be one of my easier classes. Not at all! In fact, I know of a few people who will have to retake the course (even if they do okay on our last exam Wed.). My instructor is the worst I've ever had-she doesn't appear to care at all about us. I can see being strict and all and so being a difficult instructor (which I respect), but this class has been a struggle all along because it's so unorganized, compact, and without an ounce of consideration by the instructor that as students, we actually want to learn. Congrats on your B, as I'm feeling grateful for mine considering...
See im the opposite..I loved OB and got an A in it because I was so interested in it..and pysch I got an A as well..But its something about that peds..gave me my 1st B+..but oh well..Ill take it, im just glad its over lol
Good luck amjowens! I know how you feel..sounds like our teachers could be related lol. My class was set up the same way..no organization..notes were horrible..I just felt like I had to read every word of the book to grasp the material. I hated it. So I hope you do well on your exam wed. let us know how you do!

I also hated peds. I thoought I was going to enjoy it but a few factors really made it awful. 1. it was RSV season and for 3 of my 4 weeks that is what my patients had. I felt so sorry for the little babies who could barely breathe, but there was not much I could do for them, and their mom's did all the bathing, etc. So I mostly just tried to stay busy by stocking the closets, nurses station etc. makes for a LOOOOONG day! 2. The nurses. They were terrible! I was shocked at how rude they were to us SN's, and they barely even acknowledged the patients. They just went in, did what they had to do, and left. Ugh, they were awful.

I just finished Peds today with my first C in nursing school. I hated Peds and it just wasnt my thing. I knew the material, just didnt have an interest in it. I didnt like Peds because I didnt get to do alot in clinical. The parents were always in the kids rooms and did all the bathing, diaper changing, etc. So, I couldnt do anything but sit and talk with the parents.
I didnt like my OB rotation too much either. I only seen one birth in Labor and Delivery and that was a C section. However, I ended up with a B in that class.
Anyway, I'm glad it's over. My GPA didnt suffer too much.
