Things I think but won't say: From my own experience, it shocks me how some health care providers are quite comfortable with telling deliberate lies to a patient's face about their health care. With a pleasant smile, and caring demeanor. I think this is one of the things that I find most shocking in health care. And no, I am not talking about genuine mistakes, or unknowingly not having the correct information. I was able to question the information given, and when I did the individual concerned even admitted lying and gave a very poor excuse. The sadness was that this was an individual that our family had trusted over a number of years.

That people who couldn't/wouldn't perform good self care seem to be the ones who, or their family members, have the hardest time accepting the inevitable. Why didn't they start fighting back when it might have made a difference?

"You have cancer. You have 6 months to live."

The doctor that told you surgery wouldn't hurt is a fool and you were stupid to believe him/her.

I love working with elderly, don't get me wrong, but some of them won't do ANYTHING for themselves.
Only when the families are around.
Then act like we are crazy when cares go up.

"Your profession of love and care for your child is not supported by evidence in your treatment of them and their serious medical condition."
Our physicians WILL say this, so I don't have to.
