Hi,
I got hired in the perinatal unit at my hospital and have been working in postpartum for now and am required to transfer to labor and delivery. I love my mothers and babies, but the unit management and the idea of transferring to labor and delivery isn't the right fit for me. The rush of labor and delivery isn't something I'm cut out for.
The hospital I work for has an infertility clinic that I was looking into. Does anyone have any insite on how the job might be. I'm looking for a more structured position that still includes some aspect of maternity outpatient.
thanks in advance :)

Insight is a useful thing. Consider how you will deal with the clients who are not successful as well as the ones who are. Stressful.
Consider also what L&D experience will give you in terms of insight into a wider gestalt regarding childbearing. Stick it out and you'll be more marketable in the long run, perhaps even the short run. :)

Fertility nursing is highly specialized, you are incredibly valuable if you can get in go for it!

I did fertility work many years ago and there has been a lot of change and advancements in the field since, but I did love the job. It has a lot of science, tech, and ethical issues. Client can be odd sometimes because fertility issues are very intimate and highly emotionally charged. Overall, if found it fascinating.
