just got an email from one of my recruiters that he was having a hard time finding a spot for me because of my limited experience with scrubbing, I mostly circulated.I have 25 yrs nursing experience, only retired for one yr,spent the last 5 in a general OR in a major trauma hospital, most of my scrub experience was with orthopedics.Anyone have any advice.?

Sounds like BS. Get a different company /recruiter
:nurse:thanks, i was feelin depressed about it. i am signed up with 2 other companies.i really do want to scrub more and would think some of these facilities would realize the more they teach me the more useful i would be. i am a good circulator, and i am very willing to learn.

If you are attempting to get a travel assignment and have a hospital train you to scrub you will not be very successful. The expectation from my experience is a travel nurse is able to evaluate their surroundings and become a productive part of the team in one to two shifts. Especially in the current market. It may be easier for you to take a staff position with the guarantee that you will be allowed to scrub and get a little more experience as a scrub that you can document. Good Luck,

I cosign on what the previous poster said. I don't know how the OR works, but at all the hospitals I have traveled to, I usually get 1-2 days of orientation and then I hit the floor running and am expected to function optimally. Try to get a circulating position, but if you can't then you might have to work perm until you can train to be a scrub nurse.
