Fed Up With The Short Staffing!!!!

Ok, all....so tell me what seem wrong about this senario.....by myself at start of shift (due to call-off, of girl I SAW that afternoon in class, who had worked the night before, knew we'd be slammed......her reason? So she could pass the required test today.......sorry, I can't be that picky.)

Manager says "I've made 45 calls today since 11, I'm calling ANYONE I can from the hospital system (ok, A) they don't know protocol, so I'm basically stuck doing all advanced care. B) they're just a warm body answering call lights, but ok....) So and so will come in 6-11....GREAT! at least I'll get 5 hours of quality care in.....

so and so, did NOT clean any rooms, get any vitals, heck, I was lucky to have her answer lights!

I flat out told my nurses "everyone's getting your own vitals this morning!!!!" I can't do everything! and they were great!!!! they pitched in, did VS and I/Os....all i had to do was water, ice, and lights....cool....till we got the guy coding at 315AM going to the ICU.......took him, then had to take another lady down to CT for a lung ct at 4AM....she's got a PE(found out before I left work).....

Ok, and I'm out for 3 days....it's like I got a call from the governor!!!!!!:cheers:
