Fear Factor, Nurse Style, Five Stunts... lol

Published

Okay so I love watching fear factor and was taking to a fellow nurse friend of mine and we wanted to know how many of you could get through these "nursing stunts":

1) 100 patients, 10 meds apiece, 1hour to complete... no errors

2) Eating the hospital food, with NO condiments (gasp!)

3) Licking the hospital floor... (yummy right) and yes you can disinfect your mouth after.

4) Working a 24hour shift in the ICU and ER... NO SLEEP

5) Transfering a 250 pound patient from bed to chair 10 times, no help

Me personally, I guess I'd try it but I would not be the fear factor champ!

Adam, we had gloves in 1980. It was back in the mid 70's that we were still working without gloves...cleaning up poop, pee and puke and an occasional disimpaction of hard stool. Mmm, Mmm, good. :p

Diane Miller :rotfl:

Cleaning up poop without gloves? How did you get the poop from underneath your fingernails? GRROOOSSSSSSS.

7) Ordered by administration to falsify records. (Hint: If you do you will lose all of your self respect and/or go to jail. If you don't you will be fired.)

been there, done that. lost position! got new one next day!

8) eating poop from a disposable diaper in fromt of a co-worker

Scrub, scrub, scrub...and then you could still smell it. It seemed to get stuck in a certain part of your nose, and stayed with you all night long. I've talked to some young nurses recently who said that there's no way they would have even entered the field of nursing if gloves did not exsist!!! :uhoh21:

You are right about the smell!!!!!!!!!! I recall one time as as cna I was cleaning up a pretty poopy patient and I could still smell it when I got home. I tried to eat some chinese chicken and about almost puked. For some reason my food tasted like the poop smelled.... :barf02: Gross huh? I'm a new nurse and I still think I woulod enter the nursing field without gloves, but with all known possibilities of infection and disease transfer, I think I would be scared!

I've been doing this for 30 years and have yet to find a smell or procedure that affects my appetite. In some ways this is good...but I could stand to lose a few pounds. In regard to the infection concern, I have been coughed on, spit on, pooped and peed on, and bloodied on more times than I can count. I never get sick...not even the flu. I get a bad cough about once every 2 years and that's it. Must be really good genes! ;)

See how many patient dentures you can put in and out of your mouth before pucking. You have 1 hour.

lol, I can relate to the not getting sick thing. I don't really remember the last time I got a cold. I've never had the flu either, and never had a flu shot. I don't contribute it to good genes though... I get my good "jeans" from the Gap. LoL.

Okay LoL, I buy my jeans wherever I can find a pair that fits well. This could be as high priced as Dillards, one of my favorite Dept. stores, or as low priced as the local Dollar Store. Aah... but I still have other Great Genes, thanks to good ole' Mom and Dad. I'll soon be 50 years old and most people guess my age at 40 or younger. I feel like I'm in my 20's...sure wish I looked that way again. Lol :rotfl:

2 gallons GoLitely in under 5 minutes--no puking

so nasty...

Okay MMorano, if I succeeded in this challenge, how many pounds would I lose? I don't puke easily, but I don't think I could drink that much, that fast.

Can I have 5 more minutes?! :rotfl:

GAG!

I always thought the producers from that show could use some help on the gross out factor, now we all know who to recommend to them. TWEETY!

I am not so sure i would want to play your game!!! Fear would be a factor for me for sure! i couldn't stomach most of the things they make them eat on the show, and i have a pretty strong stomach, but this.....good God this is disgusting!! :barf01:

but i must give credit where credit is due...you guys would sure make some good ideas for a nurses fear factor. just don't give Fear Factor any ideas!!! :rotfl:
