Faulkner State Community College

Published

Hello everyone!

I'm applying for the Fall 2015 program at Faulkner state community college in Bay Minette. Right now I have 101 points for my a&p I and II, microbiology, and prerequisite classes. I'm hoping to make at least an 80 on the TEAS which will give me 120 points for a total of 221 points.

I've heard a competitive score is around 180. If there's anyone who made it into the Spring/Fall 2014 programs, could you please tell me what your total score was? Thanks so much! I think I can get in with 221 points but I just want to get an idea of what a competitive score is.

Are you still in the program and if so how is it so far?

Yes, I am halfway through the program thank God. Im still trucking & so far have been passing all classes with Bs. First semester was by far the hardest. Its 3 classes & completely new material. Critical thinking was a big adjustment but by second semester, I had the hang of it. It takes a lot of dedication but its totally doable.

ok thanks for the insight.

Did you complete each semester in Fairhope or did you do one semester in Bay Minette and then back one in Fairhope

I have done all of my classes in Fairhope since Ive passed each semester thus far. If you end up repeating a class, then you will most likely end up at the other campus. But whatever campus you start at is where you will stay. Spring is Bay Minette & Fall is Fairhope. (Fairhope campus is way nicer)

BUT clinicals are all over the place so be prepared for that!

When did you start clinicals? If you don't mind, what was your first semester schedule?

First semester you dont start clinicals until the last 4 weeks. But youll have a full lab day until then along with 2 full days of classes (Fundamentals one day, Health assessment & Pharm the second day). First semester was really rough because its an entirely new learning process, the work is like climbing up mount Everest & youre already so busy with the 3 classes & lab. The rest of the semesters, youll start clinical almost right away. You can look at the past course schedules on the faulkner website to get a general idea of what days/times youll have class, lab & clinical.

Have you called the nursing dept at Faulkner State just to ask when the letters might go out this year?
