From what I understand, Vanderbilt has multiple entry options into their masters program. If you enter with a non-nursing bachelor's degree and are not currently an RN, you enter via the prespecialty year (3 semesters). If you enter as an RN w/ at least 78 college credits but no BSN, you are in the RN pre-specialty year (2 semesters). If you are an RN with a BSN degree, you skip the pre-specialty stuff and go directly into the specialty year (3 semesters long, which consists of Fall, Spring and Summer semesters). The pre-specialty credits are designed to bridge the gap between whatever your current educational level is and the specialty courses.
That's my take on it!
