Good luck everyone, I hope that you all get accepted. I've been stalking the thread and love the interactions amongst the group. I am applying to the DNP program for summer entry.

I took and passed the psych ANCC NP exam last week, my first try. I wanted to list some resources that were very helpful with the examination for others, as I could not find this information from other posts. I studied using Kaplan & Sadock study guide (just questions & answers), the Kaplan & Sadock book when I needed more clarification on a particular topic. I also used the book from ANCC (very good resource, it let’s you know where you need to focus and what will be covered on the exam). In addition, I purchased the 150 questions from ANCC for $99. It gives you a foundation on how to select the correct answer and weed out the incorrect answers. The questions also help you determine what your weak areas are and to read up on those some more. Finally, I also used the green ANCC book (the best resource it has everything). The green ANCC book was given to everyone who took the live review course (I think it was $300.00 or so). The review course was a live three day course. I graduated in August, but did not do any studying at all that month; I needed a break. I studied September, October, and took the test this month and felt that this was enough time to study and be prepared for the exam. I also purchased the questions from familynpprep.com, then on the drop-down choose psychnp exam (this helped for the HIPPA, malpractice, and legal information only in my opinion). You can also take them online at community college of denver in colorado and yes it has a lab. You will need to order the labkit and do the labs at home on your own. Good Luck!!:)

guyin48307, I would suggest that you call the nursing admissions office and they will give you an update on your application status. If you were already accepted, but they just have not sent the letter out yet, they may be able to tell you that you were accepted and for you to wait on official notification. I knew that I was accepted (at least wait list status) before my official notification was sent out by mail and I was actually accepted without wait list status. Good Luck to you.

i called the financial aid office and they stated that i received a $6,000 scholarship and i applied after the scholarship and school application deadline. i have yet to receive the award letter though. i was sure that i wouldn't receive anything since i am getting other benefits and full tuition paid from an outside source. with that said i think that everyone who is admitted receives something. i can’t wait to meet all of you there. for the original poster guyin48307, i applied for direct entry at the end of march and received full admissions two weeks later. as celclt mentioned, i believe that it is program dependent. i was told that i would be wait-listed during my interview because i applied so late (long after application deadline) and all slots were taken and that i would have to wait until someone rejected their acceptance. however upon opening my letter it said full admissions , so there is hope. i am pmhnp pre-specialty direct entry by the way. i think that you will be fine since admissions acceptance deadline is may 18th, at least this is what my letter stated. good luck, i know that i will see you there.

yes online classes are good enough and it is not listed on your transcript as an online course. the only thing that matters is your grade. i took online classes as prerequisite for an entry masters program and i was accepted. i also had prerequisite classes in progress and told the school that i would be completing the remaining two classes online and was told that it was fine. the point is that online courses do not have a bearing on what type of applicant you are, it is the total package (i.e. gpa, letter of recommendations, essay, experience in medical field etc.) that determines the applicant's potential for success in the program.
