Fall 2018 University of Memphis LCON(Loewenberg College of Nursing)

Hi I am a sophomore at The University of Memphis and I have recently applied to Loewenberg. I have completed all of my prereqs accept microbiology which I am taking this coming Spring'18. For A&PI I made a B in the lecture and an A in the lab. For part 2, I made a C in the lecture and a B in the lab. I'm really disappointed because this is the first C I've made in college and I understand that LCON is very competitive. I have a high GPA but the C lowered it to a 3.5. I originally had a 3.7. I plan on taking A&PII online in the Spring to get a better a grade. I'm extremely nervous that I won't get accepted because of the C. I was told that we may hear a decision at the end of the Spring semseter but I was unsure how true this is. I noticed the ones who applied for the Spring'18 got their decision in the middle of the semester. I would appreciate any advice.

Ok Thanks for replying! I may have a chance but I'm feeling a little uncertain that my overall GPA is too low. I was advised to apply anyway just to see.

Hello. I am looking to apply for spring 20 semester... But unsure because my overall GPA is is only a 3.21 and science is a 3.3. ...Did you hear of anyone in your group getting in with numbers like that?

Yea I was in the same boat. Was adviced to do the same and I was accepted. With LCON you just never know. All you can do is apply and hope for the best. I’m in my 3rd semester now almost done and I’m happy I decided to come here

I hear the program is very competitive getting in but well worth it. Congratulations to you!!.. I will apply but if I don't get in my plan is to work on that GPA and get it up some.

Yes it is very competitive and very tough once you’re in. My advice is don’t wait to long on LCON unless it’s the ONLY program u want to be in. Not meant to discourage but always have a backup plan even with an optimistic outlook on your chances. How old are you if u don’t mind me asking?

It's fine. I understand were you are coming from. I'm ooollddd!..32..lol and yes I am weighting out all my options..Was looking at Swcc and Baptist also. The extra classes at Baptist I will have to take have me feeling like noooo..lol trying to avoid that. I'm currently enrolled at Swcc...was going to take a couple elective classes just to get my GPA up this Fall.

Don’t feel bad I’m 34 lol. I think you will be fine either way. Those extra classes kept me from Baptist as well

Yes I am definitely trying to avoid those. Though it is an option just in case. I'm scheduled to take the NLN for Swcc but Uofmemphis is my first choice.

Lol you sound so much like me when I was applying. I’m rooting for you for sure. Keep me posted on what you end up doing. U can look me up on fb also. If u get into Memphis you will have a hundred more questions I’m sure

I applied for the fall 2023 session . My college GPA is 3.48 and I have done micro and lab with maths having b in the three of them  but I don't have the aps
will I get in or should I just have back up plans 

I'm an international student btw
