I am applying for Jan. 2010 admission. Maybe too late to answer your question, but I think it is a good idea! It is their job to write you a recommendation. If they don't know you very well arrange to meet them during office hours to talk about the recommendation and/or give them your personal statement and resume. Good luck!

Anyone applying to Duke for the Fall of 2010? Anyone going to the open house they have on the 26? I do not know if anyone else is in the same situation I am in but Im having a difficult time in asking instructors for letters of recommendation. I don't know any of the instructors well enough to ask for a letter of recommendation. I think what I will do is ask a professor on the first day of class of the next semester to observe me in class and lab (Im a biology major) so they will have something to say about me. Does anyone think this is appropriate?
