I saw that no one started a topic for Fall 2015 accepted students so I decided to start one! Are there any other students accepted students entering this fall? Please join this thread! Also, are there any graduates of the generic program? I would love some info and advice on the program and what step the accepted students are in in the acceptance process! Thank you!

Hi. Congratulations on being accepted into the program. I am actually on my last semester of nursing and just about 2 weeks away from graduating from Jfk muhlenberg. I do have to say it has been a long journey but hard work pays off. My advice is to always ask questions no matter what in class or in clinicals. Take this time to learn as much as possible (this school is so expensive). I say tape record everything in class, the lectures, because sometimes the proffesors well mention things that will be in the exam and most of the time it is. IF they repeat it over and over then you know it is important. After you record the lecture, on your own listen to it again and take down notes that you might have missed. Study 2 weeks prior to taking the exam. Set yourself to a schedule. If you work, i would cut down some hours, this is my suggestion. And believe me it makes a difference. some people can do it but do what is best for you. I would have to say that some proffesors that you may encounter throughout are tougher then others but dont be intimidated. It definitely gets harder every semester. However, JFK, I feel has made me a stronger person both as a nursing student and individual. The exams are hard, but that is why it is important to tape record. I would get some nclex books. I like Saunders. I also like Nursing Fundamentals reviews and rationales by pearson. Great book. Also, as a nursing student i have learned that it is important to have a voice. If you have a problem, always discuss it with that person first, and if nothing changes then talk to someone, the dean and request to be switched but always be respectful and proffesional. At the end of the day, you are paying for your education and you expect to be treated right, to be taught right because you are a learner, and no questions are stupid. JFK takes hard work and dedication, Nursing is not for everybody, but do not be discouraged, if you really want it then you will accomplish graduating. Good luck!
Thank you Gesl!!! awesome advice and I truly appreciate it. I am really excited and I really can't wait to begin my journey. What class do we learn pharmacology?

HI! So sorry for my late reply. I am not sure when orientation is yet. I haven't gotten any notice but would like to keep one another posted? Will you be taking day or evening classes?
Also @gesl do we learn pharmacology in the program?

yes you do learn pharmacology. It is mostly all throughout the semesters. As you learn about cardiac, you will learn about cardiac meds, and so on. Good luck. I actually took my nclex and passed and i feel this school prepares you with nursing type questions.. They are hard but well worth preparing you for nclex as well.
