Fairfield accelerated?

Currently in their program and I could not be happier! Our class size is 42 and cost is relatively high compared to UConn but its a private school and i've definitely gotten what I paid for. Its actually the cheapest program out of all private schools (Quinnipiac, St. Joes). The nursing school has a lot of respect in the state of CT and surrounding NY towns so that is a major plus. We are currently taking 5 courses in the summer but they run by weeks so we took our first course in the first week of June, finished it that Friday then the following week, we started our next course. It seems intimidating but our class has been very successful so its manageable. We will take 16 credits in the fall, 16 in the spring and 11 to finish out next summer. We start our clinical next week so I can't provide much information about that yet but our program coordinator puts you in a clinical setting that is closest to where you live. You may still end up traveling 40 miles for some locations.

Most classmates are still maintaining a job, but majority is part time. We have parents in our class as well. Let me know if you need any other information!

I just applied to the program. I was wondering if you mind providing you stats (GPA, pre-req grades, experience) before entering the program. I am little nervous about my undergrad GPA (2.8).

Also what do students do who live about an hour away (if there are any)

My undergrad GPA was about a 2.6 but I had reasons to explain for it. However, my pre-req GPA was a 3.96 and I was a volunteer at Yale New Haven Hospital for six months as well as hospitals located in the state I went to undergrad for. If you get an interview for the program, just explain why your GPA does not reflect you as a student and who you are right now. Fairfield is one of the few programs I found to be objective in this process and not weigh too heavily on undergrad GPA but again, if you had reasons as to why it was low.

We have a couple students in the program who live an hour away and they make it to class/clinical every day on time. i know they say its frustrating to drive that far but its worth it in the end. Our program director tries to put those students at a clinical site that is "closest" for them but you will have to drive 30+ minutes to every site.

Hey all!

I committed to Fairfield recently and am wondering how the program is going so far? How are the clinicals?? No one else from my upcoming class seem to be posting on any forums
