Failing Bscn program

Published

Currently Im a RPN finishing my second semester of bridging to RN. Im overwhelmed and disappointed in myself because I am failing one class and my GPA is to low to move toward in the program. I worked full time, have a family and have auto immune disease. I knew this program would be hard but i feel this it the right path for me but i so detected and heartbroken because i feel like a failure. Has anyone else been in the same position

I just went for my LPN, but I had a classmate who has an autoimmune disease. Unfortunately because she missed so many hours by the last day of Med-Surge (due to being hospitalized when she had flare-ups), she had to withdraw from the program. When I spoke to her, she was obviously just down on herself. However, she was adamant about finishing what she started. Luckily, she just had to start from the beginning of Med-Surge and not with fundamentals. Her sister also has an autoimmune disease, and she graduated with the class. I wish you the best of luck!

I would be most concerned about your health. Having autoimmune can be exacerbated by stress and nursing school, family, work; sounds like a recipe for stress. Is there a way to regroup and cut back on your hours at work, ask for more support from family and get back in the saddle next semester? You can still do this but just might need to restructure some things. Don't waste time beating yourself up or comparing yourself to your peers. Just keep thinking positive and recognize that you are doing your absolute best in a challenging situation. Every time you berate yourself for "failing" then re-frame it and say "it didn't work out the way I was doing it so now I'll make changes and can still be successful." And then believe it.

Which school do you go to? Depending on the facility if you are about to fail the class you can actually drop it and take it next semester for your health, which facility are you in?
