Failed nursing school and dx'd with ADD

Published

Hi everyone, I am brand new to allnurses.com and I hope someone can give me some advice. In the summer of 2007 I started my senior year of RN school and I withdrew from CC and when I withdrew it was considered a withdraw fail then in my next semster (Peds) I had testing done to see if I had ADD and by the time I started on meds, I had 1 week left in Peds and I ended up failing by half a point. So I got dismissed because if you fail two classes you are dismissed. CC and Peds were each 6 credits each so you can imagine what my GPA was at that point. So I was dismissed last August and it was to late to start take general ed. classes to get my GPA up. The school did say if I got my GPA up that I could reapply. So I have taken two classes and my GPA should be up to their standards. But if I reapply and am accepted I will not start until Jan. of 2009. I am so scared that when and if I go back that I will have retained the info. that is needed to go straight back into my senior year of RN school. Suggestions??? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:cry:

jan of 2009 is just around the corner. My only suggestion would be to keep studying the stuff you went over in that semester... you should know it like the back of your hand by the time you start again in jan.

Study!! Find yourself a great NCLEX review book, and keep your mind in shape. Get enough rest, relax yourself and recenter.

January is right around the corner!

Thank you Acosmo27 and ilstu99 for the advice. Most of the people I talk to about it say to just try again in about ten years or so. I will try and study non stop and look at my NCLEX book. I still have to reapply and get in. Well I'll let you two know what happens but I'm still worried about not even passing the TEAS test to get back in. Thank you guys alot for responding, I felt I needed some other people's advice that had some experience in nursing school. Do either of you have ADD? If so, how did you study?

No, I would not wait 10 years. That's nuts.

Much of your test-taking success will hinge on your anxiety level and how you approach the questions. There are lots of good hints and methods for relaxing and studying over on the student board. Tons of good support, too.

No, I don't have ADD. Nursing school was so hard, I don't envy having to do it with a learning difficulty. Best of luck to you.
