Hi everyone! I have a huge problem and I don't know what to do with my life. Please help me. Short story: I came to NY six years ago from Russia and I didn't know any English, that is why I was attending ESL courses for two years and was accepted into Kingsborough Community College. I took a lot of courses just to complete prerequisite courses. It took me about three years (I was full-time student and worked). And when I finally finished with my prereq's this college lost its accreditation. That is why I transferred to College of Staten Island and they had different prerequisites and I did them all. By the way I never had a C, only A's and a few B's. It took me a year to get into the program and i did good on NLN. And the hell begun. I know you have to give it all to the program, but my ambitions did not let me to drop from the course. My parents got divorce, mother had major depression, grand father got into the hospital and my boyfriend (who I lived with for two years) dumped me few hours before first exam. All that and more, happened during that semester. I failed by five points and got 70 or C, in this course. I've tried to reapply, but whey don't want to take me back, and said that I can look for schools in different state (NJ). My classmate has the same problem, and we called to different colleges in NY and they are saying what they cannot help because I failed nursing 110. With all that said, nursing is my everything, I don't see myself in any other profession. That is why I even willing to move to different state. If anyone had the same problem or could have any advise on what to do or where to go, I would appreciate any suggestion!!!

I'm not sure why you can't go to a school in NY....is there a rule about it??
Anyway you always have the option of the longer route but the end result is the same: LPN-->RN-->BSN. Not fully sure what your final goal is, though, license/degree wise. There are also LPN-->BSN programs.
Again I'm not fully sure why you're told to go to school in another state but there are still options for you.
I am sorry. My goal is BSN. I spend a lot of time already to take the longest road. I will be 25 soon and I really want to start the family, but I decided not to have children before I finish Nursing because I have nothing to give them now. I guess NY has a lot of competition. That is why they don't want to take in people who failed once. I think it is like unspoken rule. I wrote a letter to the chairperson in my college and she said " I have been told that some schools in NJ do accept students who have achieved a B. Good luck".

You can always go the LPN to RN route. It will take you a little longer, but you will achieve your goal of becoming a RN.

25 is still young. I know you have put a lot of work into completing your prerequisites but taking an LVN program could be well worth it if it brings you a step closer to pursuing your dream. Nursing is extremely competitive throughout the country. Maybe get your CNA which will help you with experience.
Thank you everyone for your help) I will try everything! But my biggest hope is to get into the BSN program as soon as possible. If colleges would not accept me, then I will apply for LPN)

You are still young.. I am 27 and just starting my bsn program. I took time to have a family and then decided to go back to finish my bsn.. of course everything has a time and place for it in your life but take a breather explore your options.. it is not the end of the world. You are allowed to make mistakes and pick yourself up from them.. this "c" will not haunt you the rest of your life.. make a short term plan and folloq through. Best of luck to you
