FAILED for a 2nd time...PLEASE...any advice accepted!!!!!

Published

Hello Everyone,

I'm embarrassed, discouraged, and just want to give up COMPLETELY!!!!! I found out 2 weeks ago that I failed NCLEX-RN for the 2nd time with 265 questions, that same as my first time. I got my analysis sheet back and got the same "near passing" in all areas, except basic care in which I got "below passing". I don't get how I'm getting "below passing" in BASIC CARE, that should be an area that I shouldn't be getting a "below passing" in. As I have stated above that I found out 2 weeks ago, the problem I'm facing right now is not wanting to get back on the study train because I'm afraid of seeing that "FAIL" again. Please, is anyone has any advice they would like to share, I would greatly appreciate it. I refuse to give up, but I'm allowing my fear to get the best of me. ~STARTING OVER WASN'T THE PLAN LAST TIME, BUT IT HAPPENS...I GOTTA MAKE THIS TIME MY LAST TIME~

Entycing,

I'm sorry to hear that :(

I'm a nursing student now and it is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. My cousin passed the NCLEX the first time by doing the, "A Critical Thinking and Application NCLEX Review." She said she could have not went to nursing school and passed by just doing this course. Haha. Here's the website: http://www.hurstreview.com/ Try again and don't give up!! During the interview for your job, are they going to ask you how many times you had to take the NCLEX? No!! Are they only going to ask you if you have your license? Yes!! You'll do great. Good luck!! :) I hope I helped you.

I am almost on the same boat as you my friend... I'm not gonna go tell my story and all, but I just want to tell you, don't lose hope. That is worst thing that you can do to yourself, and it will EAT you and make you feel your worth nothing..

Don't give in to the feeling of worthlessness, you are NOT worthless. Everyone wants to pass the first time, who doesn't want it to be over the first time around? But the reality is that different folks have different paths to follow. Not everyone who tries this review method and pass will work the same for the other person. You simply haven't found the right way to study for you.

At this point, you just have to assess yourself, why am I getting these scores? What things have I done that's not working. What can I do to improve? Try different things, try different methods, up to the point that you can find whats comfortable and efficient. This is not the end, cry if you have to, but pick yourself up after. Surround yourself with positive people, with family and friends that support you, with the good people here at allnurses.com... Use what you have as support...

Yes, it is very nerve racking to see that FAIL the second time, but it will never go or change unless you do something about it. IT WILL NOT GO AWAY if you IGNORE IT...

If your in doubt about why you got those kinds of scores and reviews on the letter, try to take it in mind, because the test does want to help you be better, don't take it as something that is wrong and you are right.. Reflect on it my friend..

Not to impose anything on you, but for me, I prayed, and the people who surrounded me prayed for me, and that in itself caused me to stand up again.. God picked me up...

:D

Hoping for the best for you, and I'll be praying for you so that you may also find the strength that helped me..

Hi En,

I'm sorry for your disappointment. Your journey sounds a bit like mine. That said, you may want to look at my post "long time lurker...first time poster" for some encouragement.

Remember: failure is not falling down; failure is not getting back up. All the best!

failure is not falling down; failure is not getting back up. All the best!
Very true!! If you don't try, you fail.

thank you everyone for the encouragement because after that 2nd fail i didn't know what to do and at this point i still don't, but i feel alot better. i plan to go to vegas for my 25th mid-october and i don't won't to loose my concentration. maybe if i start studying now and then take a break midway through, it'll help with the calming of my nerves. i'm going to go into this study session with a clear head and pray that this 3rd time will be a charm, not even reflecting on the first 2 times. i do believe in the power of prayer @uaefan, but i don't think i prayed the right prayer and for the right reason. i should have been praying from the very beginning and not just to help me get through the exam. i don't plan of telling anyone when i'm going to test this time around nor will i be testing at the same testing center. it may sound weird to others, but i think its the testing center ((i sat at the same computer both times...maybe its just a coincidence, but then again, maybe its not)). i don't have a structured study plan. i would just answer questions and only review the one's i got incorrect. i was average between 55-60%, which is bad, so this time i'm going to shoot for 65-75%, devise a study plan and stick to it. to be totally honest, i read to much into the question and always go into that "what if" stage. i need to learn how to interpret the question without over thinking the question. i am slotted to take the acls course, but i think i'm going to hold off until i pass boards. i know i'm doing alot of rambling, but i just need to let go of some of the stress and anxiety from this exam. i have been coming to this site for so long, even before graduating nursing school and have gotten alot of information just from reading others stories.
