Hello Everyone,

I took the nclex-rn for the first time back in March and got 208 questions, took the exam again on monday and went all the way to 265 questions but for some reason I this time I felt good, but found out today that I failed:-(. One thing is for sure I have not lost my faith in the Lord, he knows what my heart desires and I know that soon enough I will defeat this test! I will not stop praying and I will continue to study. I have been using Saunders Q &A, Lacharity, Kaplan qbank, and exam cram. At this point I am going to give myself a break and them get back to the books soon. I have sign up for Kaplan online review and I will take the class mid June. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for me???

When you start your studying again, remember to approach it as if you had never tested before. Skip over nothing. Don't let your mind try to trick you into thinking you already know an area. Good luck this time around.

I know exactly how you feel. I failed NCLEX twice too but I can only blame myself for underestimating it and not studying enough. I recently took it again for the 3rd time this past May 10, 2010 and to my surprise... I PASSED! I can't believe it! I thought for sure I failed it again because the questions gotten so hard, I wasn't even sure if I got them right or wrong. The first 2 tests I failed seems easier. I had several of those 'Select all that apply' questions which I really hate. I also got a lot of the priority questions and safety issues which I think are really important to be answered correctly. Compared to my 2nd NCLEX test, my 3rd one only had one math question. It was a tricky math question but I know for sure I answered it right. Here are the tips I can give to you: When I was studying for this 3rd try for the NCLEX, I remembered what my instructor told us--that the NCLEX is a test to see if you are a 'SAFE' nurse for an entry level. Remember that safety is a really huge thing. Don't just pick the answer that you think is right but ask yourself why do you think that answer is right or why the other answers are wrong. Don't read into questions too much, sometimes we might think that one can't be the answer because its too obvious--but guess what, it is the right one! I mainly only used Saunder's 4th edition CD--I was answering all the safety & effective environment questions on my PC (I think this helped me a lot) and that little nursing book I got called 'Nursing Made Insanely Easy!' which I think really helped me remember those things I usually forget.. like the 12 cranial nerves and such. I know there's an acronym used to remember it but nothing beats how this book teaches you how to remember them. Finally, I also answered the CD questions on the ExamCram book I got. It only has about 1200+ questions or so which I think is a little harder than the Saunders one. I wasn't able to answer all 1200.. prolly just 300 or so then I switched back to Saunders. Hopes this help! Goodluck! P.S. I know I made mistakes but most of them are from questions that's either you know it or you don't like on med questions. I was pretty confident I got the math, priority, delegation, and safety & infection control questions correct.
