EC accepted my Business Math. You would get more clarification speaking with someone from EC. I do not believe that you have to have algebra.
Yes, you study and take the NC exams and get the 4 hours credit. The tests are 160 questions with 100 questions counting and 60 that are "experimental". You don't know what is what, so you must answer all of them. You must get a "C" or better for credit. The tests are NCLEX style and cover a huge amount of information. The tests are not what is hard. The CPNE is what is hard. The program is really geared towards LPN/LVN's that work in a hospital. They do accept RRT and paramedics into the program and students that were in a RN program and completed more than half of the clinical portion of that program.
I just graduated from EC with my AAS and have enough credits to cover the required 60 gen ed for the BSN/MS and I plan to continue with EC. The program was great for me. Took me just short of 3 years and during that time, I changed jobs twice, operated a small business that I have, took care of my mother with CA 500 miles away with weekly trips there and still was able to find the time to do this program, and I'm married with children. I do work in a hospital and almost all of my 13 years experience as an LPN/LVN has been in a hospital environment.
EC will gladly send you a big package of information about the nursing program and talk with you on the phone to answer your questions. I personally love the EC program.
