Hi - I'm finishing up my application for a summer 2020 start to the ABSN program, but have had some questions come up. I will probably reach out to the school, but also just realizing I haven't met anyone applying to this school OR any graduates of this program. I attended the open house 2 yrs ago, but in the scramble of taking all my pre-requisites while working since then, am forgetting a lot!
My impression was that it's got some real pluses going for it compared to other private BSN or ABSN programs -- less $$ than a place like NYU, and much smaller class size. It would seem its long history as a school and affiliation with the massive Mt. Sinai network would be great too. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

IM CURRENTLY AT THIS SCHOOL, soon to wrap up my first semester.
Hi @Leenurse924 - congrats on getting through your first semester. Can you share what you think the pros/cons are of the program? Also curious if you'd applied other places and what made you choose this school.
I've really had a hard time finding anyone who's even heard of the school, which seems weird to me since it's been around over 100 years. It's definitely one I'm very excited about as an applicant right now.

Hi! Do you mind sharing your experiences in this thread? I'm pretty sure a lot of people would really appreciate that!
Id be so happy to share!
PSON is going through a very rough patch, between trying to move buildings, and not giving a shiz about students, my experience as a nursing student has been completely ruined. No one answers emails, no one communicates.
Most of the faculty and admin has left, even staff who have worked there for 20 years, because the situation is so out of hand,
PSON will hire a tree willing to teach - our professors are mostly AWFUL, with the exception of just one or two. The tests are often incorrectly graded but the professors refuse to correct themselves.
there is no one to turn to for help, ever. I have had to teach myself every thing that I know!
even now, with COVID, the school was so so unaccommodating to student concerns during finals - and wouldn't help students who had childcare/ time lag conflicts. this is also the only school in NYC who still hasn't communicated their Summer plan to the students in light of COVID.
I wish you a lot of luck

@psonstudent- I'm very sorry you've been dealing with this. That really, really sucks. Thank you for being so candid about your experience. This info is very valuable to so many of us, and not easy to come by.
I had a strange feeling about PSON after I finished my application (for Summer) and later heard that they weren't starting a new cohort in the Summer, then things seemed kinda fishy from there. Especially not even acknowledging the current COVID crisis in the acceptance letter.
It's really disappointing that NYC lacks decent, affordable options for getting a BSN or ABSN (let's not even pretend Hunter or Lehman are an option with their insane pre-requisite requirements). I hope this changes one day.
Anyway, good luck to everyone making decisions right now. I guess I'm feeling a bit better I'm going with another school -- despite the insane cost, at least I feel confident about the program/university and they have been impressive in their handling of the current COVID situation.

It is so true! They have been absolutely awful about student concerns during COVID. Our Summer semester begins in a month and we have absolutely no information on the set up for it. there are students who will have no childcare, be in a different state etc, yet PSON refuses to announce a Summer plan, probably because they havent got one yet.
