I am moving to Austin, Texas as soon as I receive a job offer and would like to know if any new grads here have worked with recruiters to find jobs.
Background:
My main concern is that because I am (very) out-of-state, I will not be considered as seriously as other new grads. Even though I do have the appropriate state license already, I think the inconvenience of interviewing me may deter employers. Also, I've noticed that some facilities require "computer in-box testing" for nursing applicants. I can't really afford to fly to Texas for interviews that may not even result in offers so I'm wondering if recruiters make any difference in my case.
One thing is certain - we are moving and I want to facilitate the process. If anyone has advice or even an honest opinion, please share!
Update: Sorry, read up on travel nursing here and found out it's not good to start out with it.

I am a new grad and have applied to all out-of-state positions. My experience with recruiters and being out of state is varied. I actually applied to a hospital in Texas, had one phone screening interview and then a skype interview and was offered the position. They knew I was from out of state and did not require an in person interview (I ended up not accepting).
However, with other positions I have applied for, some recruiters expected me to actually interview in person. Majority of the time though, there was an initial phone screening or interview, and if I 'passed' they asked to come in person so I could shadow and get a feel for the unit (which I only actually did once because I basically felt that the job was for sure, and I have accepted an offer for the position)
I think it is definitely a big plus that you have your Texas license! It shows that you are serious about moving and living there. The only hard part I experienced when applying out of state is that many hospitals like to hire internally or from nursing schools that perform clinically there.
But overall I think it really just depends on the facility and if they are ok with phone or skype interviews. It is difficult (like all job hunting is) but it is doable!
