I'm looking for honest comments from people who have worked, recently, at UMass, specifically the Memorial Campus. What is the difference between working for the two campuses? How is staffing on the floors? Would you recommend a friend work there?

they aren't hiring as far As I know and they recently closed a FULL med surg 30 bed unit and laid off over 28 nurses over at memorial campus. They do or did have a new grad program. It is very small and BSN only grad program and acceptance does not gaurentee employment.
That's very interesting, and sad of course. They have several new job postings listed, though. I wonder if they are hiring on some units?

I grew up with that hospital and both my grandfather and my dad died there. Ridiculously understaffed and overworked.
University campus is a Level I regional trauma center that also serves peds and a different specialty ICU on every floor. They also are a transplant center. They don't have maternity or a NICU.
Memorial is smaller, no peds, Level II trauma center, MICU & a SICU, no transplants, their birth center is located on this campus as well as their NICU.

This is terrible. They do have listings, but I believe I did see postings this week too on Indeed. My friend works here but she told me about the happenings there two years ago with staffing. Nothing new in any Worcester hospital. It is sad really and I am sure is affecting patient care.
Not sure where you are but try Leominster, Lowell, and Springfield. They seem to post jobs more frequently then the Worcester hospitals.
