I live in Atlanta. I got my license in April. Every where I have applied they tell me I have no experience or I need a BSN. I have 11 plus years as a CNA/Phlebotomist/Er Tech. Yeah no RN experience, but I know the hospital and how it runs. I have seen the nurses work and what their job consist of. On the other hand I am enrolled in school to get my BSN. One semester left and I am done. So, give me another excuse besides those two.
Is anyone else having this issue?
If I did not have a family I would be in another state right now.
BTW, I have applied every month about 100 apps.....

Have you gone back to the managers/recruiters of the facilities you were a phleb/CNA/ER tech in? You might have more luck if they already know you.
What about floors where you did your clinicals?

Have you considered doing flu clinics?
Most of the people I have worked with were either laid off or moved onto better positions in other states.
I have applied to two companys who run flu clinics. I am waiting for a reply. Do you know of any other companies I can apply to for clinics?

I am sorry, your having such trouble. Keep your head up, and keep applying. Be proud for what you have accomplished. I work in a rural hospital, in Nevada, and we take new graduates all the time.

Keep track of all those apps and follow up...Dig around a little bit and find out who the dept managers are, call them and ask for an interview. It can't hurt and I know that did the trick for quite a few people I know. Good luck and don't give up, sometimes you have to be a little aggressive. You rock for going straight for your BSN, good things will happen for you!

I agree with SweetseRN- I graduated in Dec 2010 with tech experience. I found a job opening I was really excited about-applied online and then went to the hospital. I introduced myself as a new grad and applicant (It was a smaller specialty hospital) and asked if I could get a tour. After the tour I wrote a thank-you to the person who was with me and managed to snag the job.
