what to expect on my first interview.

Specializes in ICU.

hello. i am very new to this forum. this is my first post actually. i have been snooping around for awhile though. i recently signed up with a travel agency. agostini. my recruiter recently submitted my application to a few hospitals and i am expected to start interviewing the beginning of may. i read the article about questions to ask the hospital during the interview process but i am worried about the questions they are going to be asking me. i want to know what questions to expect. how long the interview should last. i have heard that some of the kaiser hospitals in california give a telephone test. what kind of questions should i be expected to be quizzed on. what is the best way to study for these test or prepare for them some might say. i am an icu nurse. i have been in icu for almost 2 years. i am quiet anxious, as you can tell. i cant wait to start travelling, (i have been wanting to do it since i started nurisng:heartbeat) but i want to do well on this interview. since this is my first experience with this form of an interview i was hoping some of you guys could tell me what to expect. please feel free to pm me if need be. also if anyone has an inside scoop on agostini that would be great too. like i said i have read and reviewed all the questions to ask them i just want to prepare myself for what they are going to be throwing my way and a little advise on how to study for this test. i have already been studying all of my critical care books but my recruiter said its is everyday nursing knowledge. i have also heard study like you are studying for your ccrn. any advise on what to expect would be great. i don't want to completely bomb a telephone interveiw. :bowingpur

It is not any different from the interview that you had for any routine nursing job that you were applying for. Nothing out of the ordinary, just be honest with the work experience that you have had as well as the types of patients that you have cared for.

If there is an exam, it is usually written and must be completed before you start your assignment, but this varies with facility.

Best of luck to you.
