It's been one month since I passed my NCLEX and to say I'm starting to feel demoralized about the job prospects for new grad RNs is an understatement. I'm currently working on becoming licensed in 2 other states to expand my job search. Just wondering if anyone had any job hunting tips for me. Most of the jobs posted are either for experienced nurses or agency jobs. The jobs not requiring experience all seem to pass over me or send me the "you have not been selected for this position" emails within 24 hours. I know it can take a while to find a job once out of school, it just isn't my thing to sit around and apply online and then wait. I feel like a bum, I'm staying at a friends house until I find employment. Everyone told me how easy it would be to find a job when I got out of school, even my hospital connections aren't able to help. I guess more than anything I'm looking for some moral support to keep my spirits up. I' currently licensed in FL and I'm working on NC and NY. I'm trying to make sure if I move that I have family/friends to act as a support system. Thanks.

Sorry to say this, but 1 month is good. I graduated May 2011 and haven't landed a job yet. All I have to recommend is to network and, if you can, get in peoples faces. Try to hunt down that manager of the floor you are applying to. I found that this works better in rural hospitals though... The big hospitals in the area that I moved back to (to live with my parents) aren't very kind to me, which turns me off to the hospital even more. Also, I recommend to start volunteering asap (Red Cross, free clinics, hospital)! You can get some nursing experience and network there.
