excited/nervous to start MICU job!

I'm so excited after 2 years of applying I finally have an ICU job in a university hospital! I'm thrilled. I am so nervous. Even though I've been and ER nurse for a while I'm super nervous about this job.

Do any of you have recommendations for text books, reference books, reference downloads or anything else that may help me.

I'm trying to find some reading about CRRT because I know they do that but I don't know much else!

I start in 2 weeks and would like to study up a litle beforehand.

I feel like I need some studying on my labs as well....any recommendations for that??

It's impossible NOT to find an ICU nurse in my hospital that does not have the Kathy White ringbound bible. It's quite a nice little book if you need to look something up fast. :)

I found the best way to get a good grasp on CRRT is hands on. Try to take advantage of it while you are on orientation.

Congrats! I have been an ICU nurse for 4 years and I love it. I think your best bet is make the most of your orientation. You will learn the most from hands on, learning the particular protocols, learning your drips, vents, etc. I did do a critical care course that the hospital offered, it was an internet based thing that had modules for all the different systems. It taught me a lot, but what taught me the most was working. You will love it! Have fun, ask lots of questions, and get in there and DO IT! Its the best way to learn.
