Well so I applied to a local nursing home for BNA training and I recieved a call to come in and interview. Interview went very well, interviewed with the RN who is the staff coordinator and 3 LPN's all unit managers. Was basic questions why do you want to become a CNA? What does teamwork mean to you? What do you think are the duties of a CNA? How do you feel about bad weather situations? Well I was able to provide direct answers to all the questions and share my experience of why I am going into healthcare. After the interview the nurse said she would be giving calls by the end of the week. This past Friday I recieved the call that I have beenaccepted. Upon passing the state exam I will then be hired on full time with the shift of my choice. They offer awesome benefits for fulltime employees. All training is paid for by the facility as is the exam. Im super excited. I do need advice. Since this is my first job working in healthcare would it be wise to work a while then apply to an RN program or should I move forward with enrolling in January? Any advice will be great

Congratulations! I'm not yet in nursing school (I plan on applying this spring) but I don't see a reason why you can't enroll in January. There are students who don't have the experience at all so you're at a good start right now. Does the program you're interested in require that you take a CNA class?
Hi there thanks for your congrats to me.
I am very excited as the LTC facility I
will be working for after I take the course
has many great benefits. I got very lucky
to get accepted in this class. The RN coordinator,
human resource director and program director
all said we were lucky to even get our
applications considered because they are very
cautious of who they accept into the class.
The answer to your question is no my program
does not require us to have our CNA certification,
however we go on a point system such as highest being
pre reqs like A&P1, Intro PSY, and Elem Comp1.
They use to include A&P2 now that is a co req.
They use TEAS scores as well. Now if one has a CNA
certification or is working in healthcare they may
give a few extra points but not quite sure on it.
Also they used to give us points for applying to
our region. For example, I am in Fort Wayne so
I apply to a school in Fort Wayne I would get like 3-5 points.
Im very happy with where my future is headed.
I think I will go ahead and still apply in January.
I only have maybe 2 or 3 pre reqs and I am done

Thanks Im super excited as I prepare
for my journey ahead. I start in 2 weeks.
I will hopefully be certified December 16th
the class begins November 16th
and I am finishing my last pre reqs/
gen eds for NS in January. My
employer offers a full scholarship
to go to LPN school. Im not sure
about RN but I will have all my
basic courses including pre reqs
completed. I am taking 2 in January
2 in the summer then Im done. I
will only have nursing classes.
I must speak to my employer because
I want to go straight for the RN
