Excelsior's rn to bsn

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there anybody in Excelsior's RN to BSN program. I have tried to research this and I cannot find any info. Please any info would be great. I am trying to narrow my choices, and I want to know if this program is diificult. I heard that you have to video tape, and other things. Any clarification would be good. How long does it take?

I am only one class from finishing up the BSN program at Excelsior. And no you DO NOT have to send in a videotape of every class you take as someone posted. Only two courses required videos. And no you don't have to be a movie producer! I used an old video recorder from 1995 and sent in a VHS tape. As long as you follow the grading rubrics given you will have no problem getting an "A"! Compared to the CPNE the videos are a breeze!

Congrats Melody! I can't wait to get to the point that you are. Yea it is clearly posted in the course overviews what each course entails and only 2 of them have video requirements. And though I haven't taken one yet, I'm not worried. Like you said getting through the CPNE makes videotaping yourself doing an assessment a breeze. And even if someone didn't go through excelsior for their RN, i'm sure everyone had some sort of clinical exam or had clinical instructors breathing down your neck in school watching your every move. Like I mentioned before, with the video assessment if you screw up, you can always rewind and do it over til it is right. And I agree about having no problem getting an A. For the 2 courses I'm taking now, I've completed all my assignments on time and they weren't too hard... and so far I've gotten full credit for everything. I hope to get all A's too.

So yea, I can see if someone could not find a way to get access to an empty hospital room or a lab... of how it would be hard to complete the video assignments... but otherwise... you shouldn't worry.

Can you tell me about the professional socialization course since I might take that next? About the 20 hour mentor thing... what does that entail?

Specializes in Gastroenterology; and Primary Care.

Professional Socialization was an easy course for me. I just had a friend of mine with a BSN help me do a project and write a paper about it. This is a course you could take another online class with easily. I wrote about Professionalism of nurses on my surgical floor, and how their professionalism relates to the patient's recovery. Also on the video for the health assessment class you can use a local YMCA or a college nursing lab. For the Teaching video I did it in my home.

Thanks! I think I'll take that class next. Maybe with the Health Assessment class as well.
