Hello All -
I am new to this site (just joined today) I completed 60% of my BSN program before leaving due to my mothers illness in Texas (I received a Bachelors in Biology Education). I enrolled in Excelsior last week and was wondering if it is physically possible and realistic to think I can be done with the concepts by June 2009. Also - I was wondering if it is really necessary to purchase study material from RUE or istudysmart rather than studying from Excelsior study material. HELP!! I have applied to Vanderbilt University for their Direct Entry MSN program and have been accepted (fall 2009) but I would have to go there, but if I am already an RN I can do the distance learning here in Texas...seeing that I will be a newly wed around that time I DO NOT want to up and leave...suggestions please!!!

Oh, yeah.

God, no.
I'd go for Excelsior and do the distance learning MSN.
And good luck! Excelsior grad here.

HI Suesquatch -
Thanks for your reply!!! So you really think it can be done in less than a year? What did you study just the Excelsior material? I am so excited and ready to get started!!
I did my first two tests in a couple of months and then didn't take another for a year. I banged the rest out in under three months. Yes, it can certainly be done WELL before June if you have the time to read.
I only used the guides and texts. You will need the med/surg, pharm, maternal/child care, and peds texts. You won't need the others. You can buy one edition behnd on http://www.amazon.com or http://www.half.com.
What I did was stick a post-it on each chapter in each text for the exam for which I was studying.
And pay for the practice exams. They are well worth the $60ish dollars!
thank you soooo much...I REALLY appreciate that info. I makes me feel a whole lot better. I just want to be registered by Aug of 2009 so I can start the program from Texas. I work for Baylor and they are backing me the whole way...was the CPNE really as bad as I hear?
I failed it the first time. But no, it wasn't the CPNE that was hideous - my nerves did me in. RIGHT in.
When the time comes take a workshop. Lunah knows ALL of them. I took Excelsior's, and was disappointed. I learned a lot, but it was very expensive and MUCH too crowded. And the study guide had serious omissions in it, one of which caused me a PC fail.
ok thanks!!
