Excelsior Tests

Published

hi! i'm having a really hard time passing the Excelsior Exams. what did you guys do to pass? i'd appreciate any tips....im really struggling.

I just found out that Professional development systems doesn't seem to be around anymore. When I paid, it included the CPNE workshop through them but now I guess I'm outta luck.

Has anyone ever heard of or used study materials from a online company called Minnay. I am thinking of ordering from them but don't know much about them. If anyone has any iofo on the compant i would appreciate it.

Thanks

Excelsior provides study guides free of charge for the tests. If you review the study guides, you will notice that each area on the test follows the nursing process. So, if for instance, you are studying nutrition for an area of the test, you need to know how to apply that knowledge of fats, carbs, protein, vitamins etc to assessing the pt's nutritional needs, planning for the pt's nutritional needs, interventions you would perform to treat that pt's nutritional needs, goals and evaluations of what you have done. This is not a test that is just fact related. Many times, all of the answers are correct, but you must prioritize---which one is the priority. A lot of the questions have the word EXCEPT. The practice tests can show you what area you are weak. You must pass all sections of the test to pass.

Get a really good NCLEX study guide to study along with the Excelsior study guides and your nursing books. My favorite is Saunders.
